How has credit repair changed the way you do business?

Nick: It's changed it in ways I never could have expected. We deal a lot with pre-foreclosures and the credit repair is such a valuable tool when negotiating for equity.

How specifically do you use credit repair when you're negotiating?

Nick: Well, I like to be careful, and not just throw it in the package early on because it does cost us money, so we need to make sure to recover that investment. One thing I focus on in the negotiations is to, along the way, really have a discussion on the importance of one's credit. So, for example, in the early parts of the conversation, I might ask, "how's your credit?" and when they answer that it's poor, or talk about the problems they've had, I keep a focus on those for a while.

So I might say, "That's tough, with that credit score, it's going to be difficult to buy a new house, and perhaps even rent an apartment." Just like those of you that have been to the seminar know, focus on the pain. Then, later on, when we've come to negotiating on the house and I believe the time is right, I might say, "You know how we were talking about the importance of credit before? Well, if you sell me your house for X dollars, then I'll have my credit repair specialists fix up your credit. This is an extremely valuable service, that sells for $10,000 or more and is not available to the general public..." With the proper buildup, it can be a deal clincher.

How do you market credit repair?

Nick: We're just starting to develop more of a focus on using credit repair in our marketing, because we've only been using it for about 9 months. We've tried things like putting "Call us by X date and if we buy your house we'll repair your credit for free". That worked well, but I'm hesitant to throw it out there too early because then you can lose the negotiating power. We'll be experimenting more with it in the next couple of months, talking about it more in our letters, etc.

How else does credit repair help your business?

Nick: If we're negotiating with someone who's talking to anyone else, it's easy to ask, "Are they offering you a credit repair?" It's just something most investors don't have in their toolbox, and can be the difference in closing the deal.
